Brewerman.com is dedicated to homebrewing, craft beer, beer tastings, etc. These are all things that I can’t stop thinking about, talking about and doing here in the Pacific Northwest. I currently live in Bend, Oregon. This is the home of Deschutes, Bend Brewing Company, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Cascade Lakes, and Silver Moon Brewing. For a town of 80,000, that’s quite a few local breweries.
I’ve been home brewing for about 10 years. During the ten years I lived in Seattle, I was taught by a friend who was brewing all-grain. We would brew about 4 beers a year together at his place. After I was sure that home brewing was something that was worth the entry fee (I’m a cheap bastard at times), I bought my own extract brewing equipment. We would then alternate hosting brew days. One extract batch, one all grain batch … back and forth. It was great, and I learned a lot.
Several years ago, my wife and I moved to Bend for a job as a software developer. This was for a company started by some college friends. None of these guys were regular brewers, but they sure as hell knew their beer. During the two and a half years we’ve lived in Central Oregon, I’ve had many great conversations about (and over) great beer: who just received a gold medal at the GABF, what new beer was at the only decent bottle store in town, what new business venture Deschutes is undertaking. It’s great living in such a craft-beer-conscious small town.
This site is the reflection of the collision of those two topics that I’ve found to be very present in my live: homebrewing and craft beer. I invite you all to pour one for yourself, have a read, and throw down a comment or two.
Cheers!
